Scope of the Lore:

There are two realms in the universe: Vox and Rex. Vox is the realm of mortals created by gods who reside in Rex and watch over people and keep balance. Vox not only refers to the realm of mortals but also the planet on which they live because scholars and humans only know of the existence of this planet surrounded by celestial bodies owned by the gods: “Just as the Sun and the Moon, we are a precious gem on the beautiful adornment we call Universe” – it is said that the whole Universe is a grandiose gift from the God of Men(aka protection, courage, strength, fortune) to the Goddess of Women (aka love, fertility, beauty, passion).

The game takes place on the continent of Paxis (Pax - Latin for peace). There are other continents on the planet but should only be briefly mentioned or part of expansions. 

Paxis is said to be a land of ultimate balance and peace as it is watched over by the three Gods of Combat (God of Archery and Focus, God of Battle and Bravery and God of Magic and Wisdom) and ruled over by the royal family of elves Le Fey. These three gods are the sons of the God of Men and Goddess of Women. As many of their brothers, they are tasked with taking care of the mortals. There are other lesser Gods worshipped in Paxis and others that are worshipped on other continents and regions.

Wars, battles and conflicts do happen in Paxis, but compared to other regions, there’s only a small number of these and even so, these have little effect on the population: no genocides, no famine, no plagues. Besides, a great variety of races coexist in equality.

Rulership:

The continent of Paxis has been ruled over for centuries by a family of noble elves who are said to be blessed and favored by the three Gods of Combat. 

With tremendous power and wit, the royal family built what it is known today as Paxis.

Many if not all members of the family are extremely talented in at least one of the three fighting skills: archery, magecraft, swordsmanship.

What people don’t know is that the ancestors have passed down knowledge about powerful weapons and ancient history unknown to anyone, knowledge that is only accessible to the members of the royal family. This ancient secret knowledge is known as the “Forgotten Tales”. The Forgotten Tales is a series of 9 tomes, each containing secrets of unknown powers. The tomes burn with a bright blue flame and can only be touched by those of royal blood. The location of the 9 tomes, the Forgotten Place, is found through a series of riddles and puzzles hidden in the royal libraries which are scattered around the continent. 

Though the Forgotten Tales are accessible to the royal family, since Paxis has been so peaceful, the Forgotten Tales have been hidden away for many generations and their existence is almost forgotten by the royal family too. Nowadays, only a few of the royal family know about them.

Main idea: Lazarus Le Fey, member of the royal family Le Fey who rules over Paxis and incredibly talented wizard, goes on a quest to find the “Forgotten Tales” in hopes of bringing back their knowledge to the family and prevent them from being forgotten for good.

After travelling for years looking for the Forgotten Place, Lazarus finally found the Forgotten Tales. Yet upon touching one particular tome, Lazarus was overwhelmed with immense power. His eyes turned black and his nails grew long and sharp, like claws. A dark aura formed around him, his mind was taken over by an evil being.

Since then, Lazarus has been creating minions, all sorts of known and unknown monsters, bringing terror to people all around Paxis.

Eleanor Le Fey, the only sister Lazarus has, knew that Lazarus was corrupted by one of the tomes and tried to stop him but such was the power that corrupted Lazarus that Eleanor stood no chance despite her skill. Her life essence was drained by the evil being but she had one last solution. She needed all the power she could get so she cast an ancient spell that linked all people of royal blood. Even if not pure blooded, people who share ancestry with any of the royals have their share of power.

She managed to gather these endowed people around the Capital. This last resort left her weakened and desperate for help. The MC will meet Eleanor in the grand temple/castle in the heart of the capital and she will tell him why he was chosen. These adventurers will train to become stronger and defeat the evil dark lord and his minions.

Among the villages that have been overrun by monsters was the one where our MC lived in.

MC had a royal ancestor, yet he is unaware of this until later.

You wake up to the muffled sounds of a man. You open your eyes and see yourself lying in a forest (or another environment). Next to you stands the man, equipped with light armor and a sword. He asks ‘Hey! Are you alright?’. The last thing you remember before waking up is a bright blue light.

c.   Yes…What happened?

-   I am not sure either. I was just picking up mushrooms when I saw a bright light in the distance through the trees. I ran up here and found you lying flat on the ground. I thought you were done for… I am Joel by the way.

-   Nice to meet you, Joel. Thank you for your help. Are you from around *insert MC village name*

-   Ummm…I don’t know about this place. We’re in Azure Forest, close to the Capital of Paxis.

-   Capital of Paxis?! How?!

-   What do you mean how? Are you not from around here?

-   I was supposed to be 3 days away from here!

-   How peculiar, maybe someone kidnapped you to sell you as a slave and you accidentally fell out of the carriage…Hahahaa!!

-   …

-   Anyway, I own an inn in the town square, dare I say the best one in the Capital. Since you seem to be in an unfortunate situation, let me give you food and accommodation at my inn, on the house!

-   Sounds great, thank you dearly.

-   *Teleport to Merry Gold Inn and dialogue continues*

Joel will ask the MC to come to his inn, he will give the player some food supplies that help with regenerate health and mana. He will tell the player that he can rest here to regain his strength (aka refill health & mana bar) and that first few days are on the house, after that it’s X gold per rest decent amount (disputable). He mentions how dangerous it has become lately, that monsters seem to increase in numbers and is afraid for the future. He also notifies the player about a notice board where adventurers like him can complete some jobs for good money.

First notice the player gets is that Eleanor Le Fay is calling all people who have “mysteriously” arrived in the Capital to see her immediately at Le Fey Castle. She will further send the player to an class specific NPC who will walk the player through a short combat tutorial.

 

Feel of dialogue with characters (won’t have avatars though) – click to interact with characters, player will automatically move to the NPC and stop at a fair distance before the dialogue pop-up shows up. The epilogue dialogue will start automatically.
